A GUIDE FOR THEATRES AND CULTURAL ORGANISATIONS ON SUPPORTING NEURODIVERSITY

EVERY BRAIN is the name of an evolving organisation, led by Ali Wilson, which celebrates and supports neurodivergent creativity.

The creation of this guide is EVERY BRAIN’s first project. This guide will provide theatres and cultural organisations with clear guidance on how they can better support neurodivergent creatives and celebrate neurodiversity.

This guide is one of many pieces of work being designed and delivered across the cultural sector to share knowledge around neurodiversity.

The intention of this project is to provide insight into best practice in supporting and celebrating neurodiversity. The guidance offered in this guide will not be final. This guide will be updated as understandings and experiences evolve.

This process will be led by Ali Wilson, a Manchester-based producer, advocate and artist, living with ADHD. A team of neurodivergent creatives based in Greater Manchester will be hired to form the artistic team of this project, alongside consultation with neurodivergent creatives from across the UK + abroad.

The guide will be launched in Summer 2021, alongside two new performance works made by Artists-in-Residence and new film work made by a videography team, who will respond artistically to the creation of the guide.

This project is supported by Contact, Manchester International Festival, Royal Exchange Theatre, The Lowry, HOME, Equity and Kai Syng Tan who founded the Neurodiversity and/In Creative Research Network, with other support and partnerships pending.
